6:00 to 6:30 - Networking

6:30 to 7:20 - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Accounting & Finance Professional to become an Effective Ally by Nicole Gonzalez-Cumberbatch, Owner, NGC Consulting LLC

1 hour CPE- Field of Study : Personnel/Human Resources (non-technical)

Accounting & finance professionals play a major role to ensure that organizations are as effective and as socially responsible as possible regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recent public coverage and outcry of systemic racism has challenged many businesses to promote a diverse workforce and culture of inclusion. Although, minorities play a role in these initiatives, allies, which are individuals who bring attention to the experiences of marginalized groups, help drive the initiatives to the forefront, and serve as collaborators, play an even bigger role in making sufficient, tangible change occur.

Learning Objectives:

1) What is an ally?

2) Understand the methods needed to be an effective ally

3) Explain the impact of being an ally
