Speaker Bio:
Alex K. Durham, CPA, Manager of Financial Reporting, brings to CleanSpark a strong background in financial reporting, technical accounting, public company audit, complex transaction support, and U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting matters. Alex joined CleanSpark in December 2024 and supports the Company’s external reporting process, including quarterly and annual filings, financial statement disclosures, technical accounting analyses, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external auditors. His experience includes managing reporting workflows in a fast-evolving operating environment, evaluating complex and non-routine transactions, and helping design scalable documentation and control processes to support audit readiness and SOX compliance.
Prior to joining CleanSpark, Alex served at Ernst & Young LLP in the Assurance Transactional & Technical Topics practice, where he supported engagement teams across the firm in the audit of complex business combinations, valuation-related accounting matters, and indefinite-lived asset impairment analyses. In this role, Alex operated in a leadership capacity over a firmwide sensitivity analysis function that evaluated management cash flow projections and stress-tested key assumptions used in valuation models across a broad range of industries, transaction sizes, and levels of complexity. His work included analyzing prospective financial information, identifying forecast risks, coordinating with valuation professionals and global delivery teams, and developing tailored audit approaches for complex assumptions within valuation models. Alex also served as the audit lead on acquisitions as large as $9.9 billion, primarily in the technology, media, and entertainment industries, including software application providers, stock exchanges and market research institutions, and film and television production companies.
Earlier in his career at Ernst & Young, Alex provided audit services across planning, fieldwork, and reporting for both private and public companies in industries including real estate, gaming and hospitality, entertainment and retail, professional sports, technology, and biotechnology. He worked on complex accounting areas such as timeshare inventory, first-year audits, stock-based compensation, goodwill impairment, and IPO preparation.
